First Lutheran Capital Campaign 2025-2028
Since 1917, First Lutheran has been sharing the love of God in Detroit Lakes and throughout the world. While our facility and faces have changed during this time, one thing remains the same: our commitment to bear witness to the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Realizing that our church home does not accommodate the current scale of our ministry, we embark on this historic capital campaign to meet the needs of our growing congregation.
Dream Big: Expanding Walls, Expanding Ministry will not only provide us space for existing ministries, but it will allow us to enhance and expand our ministries well into the future.
Our Primary Goal is to receive gifts and commitments for Dream Big: Expanding Walls,
Expanding Ministry of $5,000,000 over a four-year giving period.
Gifts to Phase 1 of Dream Big: Expanding Walls, Expanding Ministry will be used to:
1. Demolish the existing education wing: $200,000
2. Construct a new two-story addition:
~ 7,548-foot lower level: $2,566,320
~ 7,626-foot main level: $2,592,840
3. Add an elevator in the new two-story addition: $235,000
4. Remodel the main floor, remove stairs to balcony, and meet fire code: $36,400
5. Remodel the existing dining room, remove stairs and add a wall: $40,000
6. Replace and upgrade existing mechanical equipment:
~ Replace two boilers: $225,000
~ Replace heat pumps: $52,000
~ Roof Exhaust: $3,500
~ Centrally Monitored Facility Control Replacement/Upgrade: $40,000
7. Cover additional project expenses:
~ Contingency 8% of Construction: $479,285
~ Architecture and Engineering Fees at 6.5%: $420,572
~ Lump Sum for Furniture and Equipment: $50,000
~ Other Costs such as Legal Fees, etc.: $40,000
The total Phase 1 Total Project Estimate = $6,980,917
